Kate Middleton announces she’s completed chemotherapy in emotional family video
On Tuesday, Prince William shared his thoughts for the first time after his wife, Kate, the Princess of Wales, revealed in a heartfelt video that she has completed her chemotherapy treatment following her cancer diagnosis.
William made a solo visit to Wales, where he met with fans and received cards and messages cheering for Kate. He also shared some news about what’s coming up for his wife.
William shared with fans, as reported by journalists following his visit, “This is a positive update, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us.”
William showed his gratitude for the help by saying, “I really appreciate it,” and “thank you so much.”
Kate, who is 42 years old and has three kids with William, mentioned in her video message on Monday that she feels happy to have completed her chemotherapy, but she knows her recovery journey is still ongoing.
“Right now, my main goal is to stay cancer-free. Even though I’ve completed my chemotherapy, the journey to heal completely is still a long one, and I need to take it one day at a time,” she explained. “But I’m excited about returning to work and participating in some public events in the next few months when I’m ready.”
Kate has remained mostly out of the public eye for the past year.
In January, she went to the hospital for what Kensington Palace called “scheduled surgery on her abdomen.”
Three months later, in March, Kate shared the news that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
She hasn’t shared with the public what kind of cancer she had, and she hasn’t given specific details about her treatment, except that she was getting “preventative chemotherapy.”
William also took time off from public duties earlier this year to support Kate.
In mid-April, during his first royal event after Kate shared her cancer diagnosis, William went to a food charity. There, he got cards wishing well not just for Kate, but also for his dad, King Charles III, who was also diagnosed with cancer this year.
“Thank you very much. That’s very kind,” William told one volunteer who handed him the cards.
