Dolly Parton pleads for prayers as fire engulfs.
Several fires were recorded in the Smokies a few weeks ago, including one in Pigeon Forge. Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee were hit.
Even though most of these flames have either been extinguished or well confined due to the dry conditions and high winds, the threat of a wildfire remains extremely real.
More than 100 structures in the hills around Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, have been damaged by a wildfire that Tennessee Wildland Fire officials are battling to put out. The Hatcher Mountain Road/Indigo Lane fire has destroyed around 3,700 acres of land.
According to Sevier County Emergency Management, evacuations were scheduled for the Shagbark resort and Hatcher Mountain, Cove Creek, and Indigo Roads.
Other surrounding roads were also closed to allow better access for emergency vehicles. The region where Dolly Parton, the country music queen, resides and where her Dollywood tourist attraction is on fire.
On Instagram, Parton extended her condolences to anybody affected by the California disaster. “I’ve been watching everything concerning the fires in my neighbourhood,” Parton tweeted.
“Although it appears frightening on television, I applaud the community for banding together as they always do.”
“I’m so proud of the brave men and women fighting the fire.”
Following that, she asked for prayers for everyone affected by the fire. Parton claims she has been assured that the region surrounding her Dollywood estate is secure. “I know some people who have been affected, and I hope you will join me in praying for them,” she says.
“During this period, I’ve also maintained in touch with my Dollywood contacts, who have informed me that everything is good there.”
According to a Dollywood spokesman, the fire began around 2 p.m. on the roof of a closed and vacant structure on the resort’s site.
No one was near the incident, according to the spokesman, and employees were able to put it out before the Pigeon Forge Fire Department arrived. According to a spokesman, the park is still open for business.
The 800-acre Millstone fire, the second to erupt in a rural area near the border of Blount and Sevier counties, is entirely out of control and has little hope of being put out. Investigators are now trying to figure out what started the fires.
The Seymore Heights Christian Church remained open as needed for those seeking refuge, while the Pigeon Forge Community Center served as a shelter.
Tennessee typically has two fire seasons, according to tn.gov. The spring fire season, which lasts from mid-February to mid-May, is when the forest “grows up.”
The fall fire season officially begins when the leaves fall in October and last until the middle of December.
