When they discovered Hidey wandering the streets, they realized she was in really bad shape. While cats are usually thought of as independent, some types actually need to be groomed often. Hidey had been neglected for a long time because her owner didn’t take care of her grooming needs. At first, the rescuers thought she looked like a strange alien because of her tangled fur.
Paul Russell, who found her, exclaimed, “Wow, this is a cat!” Hidey, a 14-year-old feline, was rescued by a couple who loves animals and brought to the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center.
Hidey was neglected because her owner had Alzheimer’s, which made it hard for her to take care of herself. Because of this, Hidey became a symbol of how important it is to look after elderly people and their pets.
Dan Rossi, the CEO, pointed out how crucial it is for older adults to have pets and the responsibilities that come with it. Hidey’s fur got so tangled that it looked like dreadlocks.
Once a medical team helped by shaving off her messy fur, Hidey was able to move in with a family member. This situation shows how important it is to help older pet owners.
