This morning, viewers of the “Today” Show got a shock when co-host Savannah Guthrie was missing. Co-host Hoda Kotb gave a quick explanation for her absence, but it was Craig Melvin who stepped in to take her place. So, what happened to Guthrie?

It turns out that Guthrie was traveling around to promote her new book called “Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere.” Just the day before, she had an event in Texas where former President George W. Bush and his wife, former First Lady Laura Bush, came to cheer her on. What an amazing way to kick off a book tour!

Fans of the “Today” Show were not happy about Guthrie’s book tour. They were upset because of an interview that was shown on Thursday, just before she started her tour. In the interview, Guthrie talked to singer and actress Kelly Rowland about her new Netflix movie called “Mea Cupla.” But the conversation wasn’t only focused on the film.

In the interview, Guthrie mentioned Beyoncé, who is not only a close friend of Rowland but also a former member of Destiny’s Child, the girl group they both were part of. Some fans thought it was rude to bring up Rowland’s friend when the focus was supposed to be on her own achievements. One fan expressed their frustration online, saying, “It’s really disrespectful to ask… [Rowland] about Beyoncé every single time she appears on your show.”

Fans were really annoyed because Guthrie kept pushing for more details about Beyoncé. The interview made a lot of people feel like Guthrie was digging into Rowland’s private life instead of talking about her career and the movie she was there to promote.

People are still talking about whether Guthrie’s questions were rude or not. What’s obvious, though, is that a lot of “Today” Show fans didn’t like how the interview went. This situation has started discussions about how interviews should be done and why it’s important to respect the person being interviewed.

Even though Guthrie’s missing from the show might not be connected to the interview drama, it’s obvious that what happened has affected the loyal fans. As everyone looks forward to her coming back, it will be interesting to see how the “Today” Show deals with the situation and what happens next.

In the meantime, check out the video below to watch the entire interview and see if you think Guthrie’s questions were rude or not.
